Fireball Camera & Dark Skies

Maulds Meaburn Village Institute is situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park which is an Internationally recognised Dark Skies Reserve. 

Fireball Camera

In collaboration with the Eden Valley and Penrith Astronomy Group and Manchester University, the Institute hosts the only Fireball Camera in Cumbria which is part of an international FRIPON network of cameras to detect meteors and fireballs with the aim of recovering any that survive the heat of entry through the Earth's atmosphere.

Dark Skies Lightmeter

In collaboration with the Eden Valley and Penrith Astronomy Group and the Yorkshire Dales National Park the Institute hosts a TESS-W Lightmeter to monitor light levels in the araea. This is part of the Eurpean Stars4all project
